Drawing 103 - Wednesdays, 6:30-7:45

Drawing 103 - Wednesdays, 6:30-7:45
This class is for kids specifically wanting to improve their drawing skills. We will review drawing fundamentals, including sketching, composition, shading, perspective, figure proportions and more, through a combination of skills exercises, guided projects, and independent work. We will do a majority of the work with graphite pencils and charcoal, but may also explore soft pastels, colored pencils, pens, alcohol markers, or other mediums, based on student input.
This class will not focus on a particular style of drawing (e.g., realism or illustrative). Rather, it focuses on the foundation needed for most styles of drawing. There may be opportunities to work in a particular style (e.g., foreshortening rules are the same whether drawing a realistic figure or anime figure). However, the focus really will be on practicing the concepts and not producing a polished piece.
At the end of the semester we will have an art show where the students can show off their work! We also give them the opportunity to participate in Fall Fest on Saturday September 27th, when we have our fall music recital, followed by an afternoon of stage performances and a vendor fair. Students are allowed to set up a table to show and even sell their artwork or other craft items, or have their artwork on display at our booth.
Is your child looking for a more independent class? For grades 5 and up we also have Art Club, which is less structured and students are given freedom to work completely independently, in an open, more social environment, whether it is on drawing or exploring other mediums.
Does your child like trying new things? For grades 5 and up we also have Art Exploration 103, which explores different mediums, styles, and techniques. It includes drawing fundamentals, but also includes so much more, such as painting and color theory.
The cost is $30 per 75 minute lesson, plus a non-refundable $20 registration fee (paid at signup). Students will receive an art journal (which is separate from the sketchbook required for this class). Once registered, we will send you a link for setting up autopay and you will be billed as follows:
9/12 - 1st installment of $60 to pay for Sept (2 classes)
10/1 - 2nd installment of $120 to pay for October (4 classes) [no class 10/15 due to teacher conflict]
11/1 - 3rd installment of $90 to pay for November (3 classes)
